Funding information for applicants
The Crown makes a contribution to the costs of iwi, hapū or whānau groups who are progressing an application under te Takutai Moana Act 2011 and the Ngā Rohe Moana o Ngā Hapū o Ngāti Porou Act 2019.
The purpose of this funding is to assist with application costs including:
- Gathering of evidence
- Preparation of submissions
- Obtaining legal advice
- Project management support
Different levels of funding are available depending on which pathway you are progressing your application through.
To access funding:
- First apply for an upper funding limit, which determines the total amount of funding available to you.
- Once you have an upper funding limit, you can apply to have your application costs reimbursed.
Below is a set of guidelines explaining the funding available for different purposes under the scheme, a set of matrices showing the upper funding limits available under each application pathway, and some templates to help you when making an application for an upper funding limit or a request for reimbursement.
If you have any questions about funding for your application, you can email us at fundingtakutai@tearawhiti.govt.nz or call us on 0800 866 222.
