Settlement Implementation and Redress

We support delivery of settlement redress

Settlement date is the day when assets committed in Treaty settlements are transferred, alongside redress rights.

A specific Act of Parliament determines when the settlement date will occur for each settlement.

Te Arawhiti prepares Crown implementation plans to coordinate the delivery of redress from across government agencies in the lead up to, and on, the settlement date.

There are also instances of non-standard settlement commitments where redress is to be delivered on another date (completion date). Te Arawhiti coordinates across agencies to delivery on non-standard redress. For example, the redress outlined in Section 15 of the Ngāi Tahu deed of settlement.
